Introducing

"Light Through the Rhododendrons"

This painting plays a crucial role in my artistic journey and it directly ties to my experiences on 'Landscape Artist of the Year.'

After reaching the semi-finals in 2020, I was granted a residency at Cockington Court, where my studio is currently located.

During this time, I immersed myself in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Inspired by the soft afternoon light filtering through ancient rhododendron stems one afternoon.

I was able to step out from the kitchen gallery where I was based at the time, dedicating time to sketch, study, and paint this scene from life.

The resulting oil painting captures a fleeting moment in time.

I later reapplied to 'Landscape Artist of the Year,' and this painting secured me a place in the current season. It features along side me in the pod as I paint at the Royal Albert Docks in Liverpool.
