Introducing

‘Bloom Tapestry'

My first collection of giclée prints derived from 12 oil paintings of botanical portraits.

This work represents a particularly enjoyable period of painting for me.

At the time, I had recently established my studio at Cockington Court and found myself fully immersed in an inspirational flow.

I began exploring the flowers in season, capturing their unique characteristics through intimate studies.

I exclusively worked on location, utilizing natural light for this close-cropped style, enabling me to delve deeply into understanding the flowers. 

Over the spring and summer months, I would head into the studio, set up my easel outside the front door or in the walled garden, and simply paint what was growing and in season. 

The process allowed me to learn, observe, and be directly inspired by the subjects and their surroundings. As a result, my artistic decisions regarding pictorial space and colour use flowed much more effortlessly.

It's always so inspiring to be alongside the living thing.
