A recent study of a tree in the country park where my studio is located reveals the subtle, deliberate adjustments trees make as they quietly adapt to their surroundings while maintaining their unique character, even in challenging conditions. When one side of a branch or trunk curves or bulges, the other side complements it, creating a dynamic and harmonious rhythm. Much like the human form, with its graceful interplay of bones and muscles, this dynamic and fluid portrayal is captured in 'Solitude II,' an oil painting of a serene Devon landscape—a singular tree study.
